[Kpop Planet News] Stray Kids Makes 4th Debut Atop Billboard 200 With "ROCK-STAR"

[Kpop Planet News] Stray Kids Conquer All Three Major Billboard Charts With "ROCK-STAR"

Stray Kids have made history on Billboard again!

Last Sunday (November 19) US time, Billboard announced on social media that Stray Kids new 8th mini album "ROCK-STAR" charted No.1 on Billboard 200 with 224,000 equivalent album units recorded in its first week of release.

This makes it become their fourth album to top the chart, following their third full-length album "5-STAR" and previous mini albums "Maxident" and "Oddinary". All four albums have been topping the chart for nearly 20 months. Stray Kids also becomes the second K-pop group to top the chart more than four times after BTS, who achieved so six times.

On the next day, Billboard revealed that the new album's title track "LALALALA" debuted at No.90 on the Billboard Hot 100 main singles chart with 6.1 million U.S. streams and 3,000 downloads sold during its opening week.

This marks Stray Kids' first time entering the chart since their debut in 2018, and makes them the first 4th generation K-pop boy group and seventh K-pop act in history to enter this chart.

Stray Kids also made a glorious return to the "Billboard Artist 100" chart at No.2 on November 21 with thanks to their new album.

"ROCK-STAR" has been sweeping music charts globally since its release on November 10. The album topped the iTunes top albums chart in 32 regions, and "LALALALA" entered top songs chart in 37 regions worldwide. In addition, the album sold more than 2 million copies in just two days.

To share the joy of this incredible achievement, Stray Kids posted a clip on their official X channel. Leader Bang Chan said that it is unbelievable and mind-blowing for them to top the Billboard 200 chart four times consecutively, and Felix and Han continued by expressing gratitude to STAY and everyone who have been listening to Stray Kids' music and watching their contents, adding that they couldn't have made it without their love and support.

Meanwhile, Stray Kids won the "Top K-pop Album" category at the 2023 Billboard Music Awards (2023 BBMAs) for "5-STAR". The group also delivered an electrifying performance at the award ceremony held in Las Vegas last Sunday, where they performed "S-Class" and "LALALALA", the title tracks of "5-STAR" and "ROCK-STAR" respectively.

This makes Stray Kids become the second K-pop boy group to take the stage at one of the major music awards ceremonies in the US following BTS.

Congratulations to Stray Kids for the great success of "ROCK-STAR" and winning the "Top K-pop Album" award at 2023 BBMAs! Stay tuned for more updates on Stray Kids, and grab "ROCK-STAR" and Stray Kids 2024 Season's Greetings now!
