BTS Achievements as Solo Artists

Since BTS announced a group hiatus in June of 2022 to focus on individual projects and fulfill their mandatory military service, each member has embarked on successful solo endeavors, achieving significant milestones in music, performances and global recognition. Let’s take a look at the achievements each member has a solo.

RM (Kim Nam Joon)
Solo career: He debuted with “Indigo” in December of 2022. This album debuted at number three on Billboard 200, marking the highest chart position attained by a Korean solo artist. This positioned him on the right path for his solo career. In 2024, he released “Right Place, Wrong Person”, which continued his exploration of personal and artistic themes. RM received critical acclaim for the lyrics, which show its depth and maturity. He also made history as the first Korean rapper to be nominated at the American Music Awards, with a nod for 'Best K-Pop Artist' at the 2025 ceremony. All his albums were listed as best albums alongside with artists like Kendrick, who was nominated for best rap/ hip hop album by Allmusic.

Collaborations and Media: He featured in various collaborations whit artists such as Erykah Badu, Anderson Paak and appeared in a personal documentary, showcasing his artistic journey. On April 25th BigHit announced he will be featured on Tablo’s new album.


Jin (Kim Seok Jin)
Solo career: After completing his military service he released his debut EP “Happy” in November of 2024, featuring tracks like “Running Wild” and “I’ll Be There
He will be releasing his solo album “Echo”, with photoshoots portraying a new facet of Jin with a darker and slightly rock vibe.

Upcoming Tour: Jin announced his first solo world tour “RUNSEOKJIN_EP.TOUR” scheduled for 2025, with the first performance in Goyang, South Korea followed by shows in Newark, London and concluding in Amsterdam


Suga (Min Yoon Gi)
Solo projects: He released “D-DAY” under his moniker “Agust D” which received critical acclaim for its raw and honest portrayal of his experiences. The album topped charts and solidified his position as a solo artist. 

Tour and films: He embarked himself on a tour and released a concert film, establishing his presence as a solo artist.


J-Hope (Jung Ho Seok)
Solo projects: He released “Hope on the Street VOL.1” in March 2024, and debuted at number five on the Billboard 200. The album features a blend of hip-hop and street dance influences, reflecting his artistic roots. He has now returned with “Mona-Lisa”, which ranked on the charts again. 

Tour and media: He launched his first solo tour, “Hope on the Stage” and released a six-part docuseries on Prime Video, exploring his artistic roots and street dance background. J-Hope also appeared on Korean national TV on the show “I Live Alone” showcasing his lifestyle abroad and the making of his new music. 


Jimin (Park Ji Min)
Solo career: Releasing “Face” in March of 2023 and achieving number two on the Billboard 200, followed by “Muse” in July 2024, before starting his military service.
He will be holding solo exhibition in New York with “The Truth Untold:
전하지 못한 진심” Tickets will go on sale on April 30, with more details to be announced later.

Chart topping singles: Jimin achieved his first number one debut on the Billboard Hot 100 with “Like Crazy” and topped both Billboard’s Global 200 and Global Excl. U.S. charts with “Who
Jimin was also nominated on American Music Awards as a solo artist followed by his member RM.

Media projects: He co-hosted the travel reality series “Are You Sure?!” with Jungkook for Disney+

V (Kim Tae Hyung)
Solo career: He released “Layover” in September of 2023, which sold over 1.67 million copies on its opening days, setting a new record for the highest first-day sales by any solo K-pop artist. The album debuted at number two on the Billboard 200 and was certified Platinum by the Recording Industry Association of Japan. V won the “Trend of the Year K-pop Solo” award at the Korea Grand Music Awards, among other accolades.

Media
: V has explored diverse ventures, including a posthumous duet with Bing Crosby, acting in reality shows, and also releasing an album, showcasing his multifaceted talents.

Jungkook (Jeon Jung Kook)
Solo album: Jungkook released “Golden”, which ranked 80th on the Billboard 200 and 10th on Top Album Sales in 2024

Chart Success:
He achieved significant success with singles like “Seven”, “3D” and “Standing Next To You” on Billboard global charts.

Streaming Milestones:
Jungkook became the first Asian solo artist to enter the Top 10 of both Global Excl. U.S. Artist and Top Current Sales charts.

Despite their individual pursuits, BTS members continue to support each other and remain connected with their global fanbase, ARMY. Their solo achievements highlight their versatility and enduring influence in the music industry. The group is expected to have a comeback by the end of this year continuing with a possible world tour
