Jo Yuri Explores Different Facets of Love With "Love All"
If you have ever watched a tennis game, you may have noticed that tennis players shout "love all" at the start of the game when both of them start at zero points. While Jo Yuri reinterpret this phrase to describe the excitement at the beginning of a romantic relationship in her new mini album "Love All".
Released on August 9th, "Love All" consists of five tracks that embrace different stages of a romantic relationship, starting from developing curiosity towards each other, confessing, to the relationship starting to fade, denying each other, and finally breaking up. Yuri described the album as a prism that does not break down to a single color.
The title track "TAXI" is a hybrid dance pop tune that illustrates the excitement when a girl encounters love for the first time by likening this urge to a taxi ride. It is a bold yet playful confession song that shows the girl's determination to win her crush's heart at all cost.
Another highlight of this album is that Day6's Young K wrote the lyrics for one of the b-side tracks "Lemon Black Tea". Yuri revealed that this is her first time meeting him, and she is very satisfied with the cute lyrics, which depicts a girl's curiosity towards her lover. However, Yuri picked the last song, "Bruise", as her favorite song in the album because it perfectly highlights her powerful vocal.
Yuri first debuted as a member of a project girl group IZ*ONE. After the group disbanded in 2021, she started her solo career in October the same year with a single album "Glassy". In June this year, it was revealed that she will be starred in the second season of "Squid Game". During the comeback press conference, Yuri shared her feelings on this breakthrough in her entertainment career, saying that she was very grateful and honored to participate in this phenomenal series alongside with many famous veteran actors such as Lee Byung-hun and Gong Yoo.
Finally, Yuri also expressed her love towards both acting and singing, and declared her aspiration to become a singer-actor that the public can trust and hear and watch at the same time.
