[Kpop Planet News] THE BOYZ Makes A Summary Return While Celebrating "Christmas In August"
THE BOYZ is trying to break into the competitive K-pop summer music chart in the midst of girl group comebacks with their new album, "Phantasy Pt. 1 Christmas in August", on August 7 as the group held a press conference at the CGV Yeongdeungpo multiplex.
This album is the first part of their 2nd full-length album "Phantasy", which will be presented in the form of a trilogy that depict different types of fantasy under one common theme of "We all dream of a fantasy". The remaining two parts of the album is expected to be released within this year. The album is THE BOYZ's first studio album in three and a half years since the release of "Reveal". It consists of six tracks, with "Lip Gloss" being the title song.
Main vocal New commented that the album showcases different sides of the group, and Hyunjae explained the reason why the album is divided three parts is because it is hard to include all sorts of fantasy in one album, and they hope to unpack them one by one.
While THE BOYZ had previously released refreshing summer tracks such as "D.D.D", "Thrill Ride", and "Whisper", main rapper Sunwoo revealed that this album includes more easy-listening tunes with addictive hooks that are easy to sing along to. Eric, the youngest member, added that since the song is an easy listen, he hoped that it can be well-known by the public and can be heard everywhere.
When talking about the title track "Lip Gloss", the members described it as a "summer carol song" that combines house and synth pop with retro feeling. The lyrics show a man's desire to receive a kiss like a Christmas gift from a woman whom he had a crush on at first sight, which matches with the album's title. The group also released a six-minute long music video for the song, which was shot at Siargao Island in the Philippines and contained an interesting story line and unexpected plot twist.
The members also express their wish for success of their new album, and ask their fans to look forward to the coming two parts of the trilogy.
