[Kpop Planet News] BTS Jungkook To Co-headline Global Citizen Festival 2023

BTS's one and only "golden maknae" Jungkook is ready to make history again!

On September 6, Global Citizen Festival announced that Jungkook will be performing at Global Citizen Festival 2023 on September 23, joining big names including Brazilian singer-songwriter Anitta, American rapper Ms. Lauryn Hill, and rock band Red Hot Chili Peppers as a co-headliner of the event.

First held in 2012, the festival is an annual charity concert dedicated to combating various global issues such as poverty, famine and climate change by raising people's awareness on these subjects through organizing various cultural events.

BTS took part in the festival in 2021 virtually where they performed two of their English hits "Permission To Dance" and "Butter" in front of Korea's National Treasure No.1 Sungnyemun gate in Seoul.

While this year, Jungkook will be performing in front of 60,000 audiences at New York Central Park, making him the first Korean solo singer to join this music fiesta. Apart from Jungkook, Stray Kids will also be performing at the concert.

According to a press release from HYBE, Jungkook's agency, Jungkook is very happy and excited to participate in such a meaningful festival as a headliner, and hopes to perform as soon as possible.

Jungkook has recently made a successful solo debut with "Seven" in July. This summary track topped the U.S. Billboard's Hot 100 main singles chart, and was crowned No. 1 Global Song of the Summer by Billboard.

In addition, the song has also been nominated in the Song of Summer category at the 2023 MTV Video Music Awards, which will take place on September 12 (U.S. time) at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey.
