[Kpop Planet News] BTS's Suga To Begin Military Service On Friday

BTS's Suga will be the third member to enlist for mandatory military service, following Jin and J-Hope.

On September 17, BigHit Music released a notice on Weverse, announcing that the BTS's rapper and producer will begin his required service on Friday, September 22. The notice also stated that no official events will take place on the enlistment day when Suga enter the training camp.

Finally, the notice asked fans to avoid visiting Suga's workplace during his service period, and continue to love and support him until he completes his service, promising that the company will provide all the support he needs.

Following the official announcement, Suga also held a live stream on Weverse, comforting fans not to feel sad about his enlistment, and reminding them that they will meet again in 2025. He also revealed his short hair cut on the live stream, confessing that he was still getting use to his new style.

Back in October 2022, BigHit Music first announced that BTS will not be performing as a whole group until 2025 due to military service. Two of the members, Jin and J-Hope, have already been enlisted in December 2022 and April this year respectively.

On August 7, the day after Suga wrapped up his Agust D-DAY tour, BigHit Music revealed that Suga will soon begin his military service. However, unlike Jin and J-Hope, Suga has been considered unfit for regular combat duty. The exact reason has not been disclosed, but it is believed to be related to his labrum surgery in 2020.

Suga released his debut studio album D-Day in April this year. The album sold over 1 million copies on the first day of its release, and landed 2nd on Billboard 200, making him the third BTS member to reach top 10 on the chart as a soloist.

He then kicked off his D-DAY tour few days after the release of the album, where he performed in front of over 300,000 ARMY in 10 North American and Asian cities.

Let's wish Suga a safe military service and healthy return!
