[Kpop Planet News] BTS Renews Contract With HYBE For The Second Time

BTS trashed the "seven-year curse" once again as all the members renewed their contract with HYBE!

On September 20, HYBE announced that all seven members of BTS have renewed their contract for the second time since 2018. While the company did not reveal the length of the contract, it confirmed that the group will stay together after all the members have completed their mandatory military service in 2025. The company also promised to support the members in all possible ways to further elevate BTS's reputation.

To celebrate the contract renewal and express gratitude to both BTS and ARMY, BigHit Music has pledged to donate 1 billion won to the Korean Committee for UNICEF. This move is also a part of BTS's "Love Myself" campaign in collaboration with UNICEF in November 2017.

The contract renewal not only delighted ARMYs, but also the entire K-pop industry as many K-pop groups disband about seven years after their debut, which is the longest possible and usual length of K-pop group's contract. Many industry insiders believe that BTS's decision of continuing to stay together has made history in the K-pop scene, and set an exemplary case for other K-pop groups.

Currently, three of the members (Jin, J-Hope, and Suga) are performing their military service. The remaining four members (RM, V, Jimin, and Jungkook) will be following the suit in the coming months in order to resume group activity in 2025.

While group activities are being put on hold, the members have been achieving success in their solo career. V is now promoting his debut album "Layover", which sold 2 million copies in the first week of its release. Suga's "D-DAY" topped Japan's Oricon Daily Album Ranking chart and Billboard's Top Album Sales chart. All these prove that BTS remains as a global sensation, and the members are enjoying their new identity as a soloist.

Check out V's "Slow Dancing" live performance at M Countdown with his pet dog Yeontan, and Suga's "Haegeum" live stage at The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon!

Congratulations to BTS and ARMY, and let's continue to support the members as we wait for their reunion in 2025!
