1. Girls Generation TTS - Dear Santa (2014)
"Dear Santa" is a Christmas carol from Girl's Generation vocal sub-unit TTS (Taeyeon, Tiffany, Seohyun). This song describes the girls' excitedly wishing that they will receive a confession from their crush on the snowy Christmas day and spending a wonderful time together, just like how they waited for Santa Claus to come when they were small. The members looks so elegant in red ball gown in the music video, and their soothing vocals are always a pleasure to listen to. Although this song was released nearly a decade ago, it still remains as one of the most well-known Christmas K-pop songs widely listened by K-pop fans all over the world unit today.
2. TWICE - Merry & Happy (2017)
TWICE has released a lot of Christmas songs and cover videos, but "Merry & Happy" is one of the most beloved Christmas carols among ONCE and K-pop fans alike. This sweet carol is about the members joyfully waiting for Christmas while falling in love, singing that the Christmas carols and snow no longer make them feel sad and lonely because their lovers are besides them. The members' soothing vocals make this track pleasant to listen to, and Dahyun and Chaeyoung's dynamic rap accentuates the excitement of spending Christmas with their beloved ones.
3. Starship Planet - Christmas Time (2018)
Some entertainment companies would release Christmas songs that feature all artists under their label. One of the best ones is "Christmas Time" from Starship Planet. It is a lovely Christmas song that confesses one's wish to spend this festive time with his or her beloved ones. The music video features all the groups and soloists from Starship Entertainment including Soyou, K.Will, Jeong Se Woon, MONSTA X, WJSN, Boyfriend and more. All of them are enjoying a Christmas party together, and MONSTA X and WJSN covering each other's songs "Save Me, Save You" and "Shoot Out" is so funny to watch!
4. Stray Kids - Christmas EveL (2021)
Who says Christmas songs have to always sound soft and soothing? Stray Kids has made a bold attempt to challenge this long-standing stereotype with "Christmas EveL". This one of a kind Christmas carol perfectly combines Christmassy elements with Stray Kids' signature hip-hop music style, and Felix rapping "Feliz Navidad" (Merry Christmas in Spanish) with his low voice is very addictive! The music video is also very hilarious, which is about the members pretending to be Santa Claus and secretly sneak into a girl's house to send her Christmas gift. However, they are accidentally discovered by the girl and finally decided to party with her together.
5. NMIXX - Funky Glitter Christmas (2022)
If you want some funky music to dance along during Christmas party, this is the song! "Funky Glitter Christmas" describes the excitement of holding a Christmas party and joyful feeling of dancing together with the beloved ones. The lyrics include many things and expressions related to Christmas such as snowman cookie and "Feliz Navidad". It also cleverly incorporates the classical Christmas carol "Joy To The World", adding more Christmassy feeling to this festive track. The funky music and the members' freewheeling vocals just naturally get everyone dance along!
6. NCT Dream - Candy (2022)
This song is a remake version of legendary 1st gen K-pop boy group H.O.T's iconic hit "Candy". Though the original version is not a Christmas song, NCT Dream's version is rearranged to serve as the title track of their winter special mini album "Candy". This new version brings out a Christmassy feeling and makes this legendary K-pop track sound even trendier. The beautiful harmonization between Chenle, Haechan, and Jisung after the first chorus gives out a Christmas carol vibe, and Jaemin's adorable smile is like a ray of sunshine that pours in extra warmth to this festive season!
7. ATBO - Must Have Love (2023)
Rookie boy group ATBO dropped a single album "MUST HAVE" last month, and the title track "Must Have Love" is a remake of SG Wannabe Yongjun and Brown Eyed Girls Gain's 2006 winter hit with the same title. The members express their affection towards their love, singing that simply staying with their other half already makes them feel happy, and that they hope to create unforgettable memories with her together this winter. The sweet winter romance lyrics coupled with the members' crystal clear vocals and energetic rap would definitely melt your heart, and the members having snow ball fight and playing with husky in the music video is too cute to handle!
8. BTS - A Typical Trainee’s Christmas (2012)
Most of the K-pop Christmas songs are bright and cheerful, but BTS's "A Typical Trainee’s Christmas" is an exception. This mid-temple hip-hop track talks about how BTS, as K-pop idol trainees back then, spend their Christmas practicing alone for the whole day, while seeing other people enjoying the holiday with their beloved ones. Despite the sad lyrics, the music video edits are very funny as the members edited the music video by themselves. Listening to this song again after so many years and seeing how the members have evolved from underdog trainees to global stars just feels so surreal!
